If you’ve ever search an online dog store or walked into your local PetSmart, there are almost too many toys to even comprehend. But sometimes you just want a simple ball to play fetch with. Now many people grab a ratty old tennis ball sitting around and use that. But that can actually be quite dangerous to your dog and has led to many fatal choking incidences. So it’s best to stick with toy balls that are built for dogs to play with. Below are some of my favorites.
Chuckit! Ultra Ball
This was the best $5 I’ve ever spent. The inside is made of a thick rubber core while the outside is flexible enough for your dog to grab it with his mouth. It’s bright and easy to find while playing at dusk. It even floats if you’re using this around a pond or swimming pool. Chuckit! also sells a launcher that you can use to fling the ball like 100 feet in the air to really get some exercise going.
Chuckit! Indoor Ball
I really do love this company. Again, another really cheap yet durable product. This one however is made for indoors where you’d like to avoid knocking over an expensive lamp.
Snug Rubber Dog Balls
If you’re looking for a tennis ball replacement, this is it. Almost the exact same size and you get them in a set of 3. All are made of rubber and multi-colored. This ball is FDA compliant and uses a food grade heavy duty rubber that makes it indestructible. Oh and did we mention it’s BPA free?
Nero Ball Ultra
This is actually a toy used by K-9 and military dog trainers worldwide. But for me, it’s all about that rope that is attached. If you have trouble throwing far, this will help you sling it a good 50 feet in the air with some effort. The rope also makes fetch easier by allowing you to grab the rope and not the ball that has been slobbered all over.
Nerf Tennis Ball Blaster
Ok this is expensive and just uses your standard dog grade tennis balls. But it’s super fun to launch them through the air using the nerf gun. Probably not $30 worth of fun, but if money is no object, why not?
