UPDATE, 2:20 p.m. Friday – ROSIE IS FOUND!! Her mom is headed to the shelter to pick her up.
Rosie’s mom, friends and I would like to send a HUGE thank you to everyone who helped get the word out to people in the area. By yesterday afternoon, Animal Control officers already were on the lookout for Rosie, and people in the neighborhood already knew Rosie by name when approached, thanks to folks literally across the country using Facebook, Twitter, Blogspot, Craigslist, and Dogster to get Rosie’s picture and information to the public. I had people I didn’t know emailing advice and tips on locating a lost dog, and that valuable information was made even more special by the fact that it came from perfect strangers – but people who knew or could imagine the pain and trauma of losing a beloved pet.
The funny part, though? After wandering scared and alone all night long, Sweet Rosie eventually wandered into someone’s yard today, got tired, and sat down in the driveway to rest. Those people called Animal Control, and that’s how she was found. That’s so Rosie… and it’s such a sweet ending to this nightmare.
The Animal Control officer didn’t even need to check her tags, though – he knew who she was.
UPDATE, 2:40 p.m. Friday – ROSIE IS HOME.
It’s Friday, but I don’t have anything fun or funky for y’all today… just an urgent plea for help.
Rosie the German Shepherd is lost in Columbus, Ohio, and needs help finding her way back home. Rosie escaped from her sitter’s fence Thursday morning, 11/5/09, in the Short North area of Columbus, and was last seen Thursday in the Upper Arlington/Grandview Heights area.
She is a petite Shepherd, is mostly black on her head and face, and is wearing a pink gingham collar. She is a very sweet and friendly girl, but very terrified — she was spotted by an Animal Control officer on Thursday but ran away in fear.
Rosie belongs to a good friend of mine and gives the best slurpy dog kisses in the world.
Please, if you are in the Columbus area, or know anyone there, help get the word out and help bring Rosie home.
