February 3, 2010Get Hooked! Pets Unleashed

By my rough count, my husband and I own somewhere in the neighborhood of 9 dog leashes. Seeing as we only have two dogs, I guess that’s a little excessive. Wait a minute. That’s not counting the leash I keep in my car in case I run across a stray dog while I’m out. And I forgot about the two spare leashes I keep in the bedroom in case we have to escape through the window at night during a house fire. (Yes, I’ve accepted my crazy. Won’t you join us?) So where are we now, 12, 13 leashes?

Needless to say, I was super pumped when Sue from Pets Unleashed contacted me and asked if I’d like to take a look at one of their customized wrought-iron leash hooks. Oh, would I.

Pets Unleashed is an Ontario-based, family owned and operated company. They create awesome made-to-order, personalized leash holders (featuring your dog’s name) from 1/4-inch steel.

I hung the leash hook (using the enclosed screws) in our mudroom (which has been especially muddy these days, with all the melting snow outside). I really love the industrial, hand-forged look of the holder, especially coupled with the playful word “SNIFF.” (Since we have two dogs, I decided to go with a more generic, yet apropos, personalization.)

Pets Unleashed sounds like such a great company, too. Formed by two families brought together by the friendship of their dogs, Barklee and Otis, they care about animal welfare and donate a portion of profits to charitable animal causes.

You can order a personalized Pets Unleashed leash hook online or by phone.

I will be forwarding this to Juno’s “grandmom” for inclusion on her birthday gift list (she turns 4 this month!). We definitely need one! Right now her leashes and collars are in a tupperware next to her crate. This is much cooler :) .

You have company in the crazy department. Along with extra leashes in my car for the occasional stray I also have cat and dog food in case I can’t get close enough to catch them, at least I will know that they had something to eat. :)

I’m thinking a “LUCKY MUTT” coat rack (er, leash holder) would be perrrrrfect in our entryway. Now I have to plot a way to convince my husband of this. Hmmmmm….

Becky, I think that sounds like an excellent idea! And who says he needs convincing? Just get it. He’ll love it. ;D

    Happy early birthday, Juno!!

Melissa – OMG! I used to have dog food in my car too, little sample bags! I might actually still have some in my console…

SO CUTE. I don’t even want to start counting.. there’s 3 in the car (2 of the same kind), one was his old puppy leash, then there’s the reflective one, 2 retractable ones that someone gave us and my dad like to use (so they’re at his house), my ergonomic retractable one, and 1 leather one for when we went to a nice Humane Society fundraiser, and a half cashmere one we got on sale so I HAD to buy it.. that’s what.. 8 (not including 2 more that were gift and have the tags still on). HAHA :D
