February 2, 2010Chew on This: Boiled Wool Dog Toys

We’ve featured boiled wool dog toys before, but I’m just smitten with the bright colors of these durable, washable, and biodegradable toys.

Given my dogs’ penchant for textiles (ahem… underwear, socks, and the vintage throw blanket from the living-room couch), I’m sure these would go over like gangbusters at my house.

So, are the whole balls just wool? Are they stuffed with something different… or is the 100% wool thing the charm? Do they fall apart, do you know? (sorry about the 20 questions!)

Yep, Shauna, just wool. Supposedly the natural scent of wool is appealing to dogs and cats? And I’ve never had one, but I’ve heard that the wool is super durable – and then if they get nasty, you can wash them. Dottie’s sloooowly learning how to fetch, so I’m thinking this is something we could play with in the house without losing our security deposit. :D

OMG totally need toys that I can wash, because the drool buildup smells! :) Thanks for the link!

    Aha, thanks for the explanation!

Oooohhh, yes. They would be a HUGE hit at your house. How do I know? Well, lets just sat a certain dog chewed up my needle felted cat that took me oh, about 8 hours. Wool is way too tempting for some dogs! ;) These are really cute and cool. Might have to get one for miss Topaz!
